2 My need, and Thy desires,
Are all in Christ complete; Thou hast the justice truth requires, And I Thy mercy sweet.
3 Where'er Thy name is blest,
Where'er Thy people meet,
There I delight in Thee to rest,
And find Thy mercy sweet. |
4 Light Thou my weary way,
Place Thou my weary feet, That while I stray on earth I may Still find Thy mercy sweet.
5 Thus shall the heavenly host
Hear all my songs repeat
To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
My joy, Thy mercy sweet.

2 Thy promise is my only plea,
With this I venture nigh; Thou callest burdened souls to Thee, And such, 0 Lord, am I.
3 Bowed down beneath a load of sin,
By Satan sorely pressed, By war without, and fears within, I come to Thee for rest. |
4 Be Thou my shield and hiding-place,
That, sheltered near Thy side, I may my fierce accuser face, And tell him, Thou hast died.
5 O wondrous love, to bleed and die,
To bear the cross and shame, That guilty sinners, such as I, Might plead Thy gracious name.
